Letter to the St. Petersburg Times, April 23, 2001

Once again we must call your attention to the St. Petersburg Time's lack of respoible Middle East reporting. The stoy about the death of an Israeli doctor by anoother terrorist attack does not serve your readers well. It is, in fact, most misleading.

The terrorist act by a suicide bomber which killed the doctor and injured over 40 people is dismissed with a headline "New Suicide Bombing feeds right's ire at Israeli leader." The story is accompanied by a photo showing a little damage to the back of the bus. Readers are not given a picture indicating the real extent of the damage.

Although The Times may not have intended to portray that only a small fraction in Israel ae agitated by the continue obscene bombings indiscriminatingly airmed at its citizens, theTimes story does just that.

In concludion, readers should be aware that Israelis like Americans will not accept disgusting acts of terrorism.
